Is This New “Space-Age” Exercise Machine How Madonna Got So Buffed?
Remember those old-time machines where you put the belt around your waist and the belt was attached to a motor that vibrates, shakes and jiggles -and supposedly, burns off your belly fat? I couldn’t help but think of that old gizmo when the subject of vibration platforms (like the “Power Plate”) came up in a conversation I had with top trainer David Grisaffi earlier this week. Seems like a lot of celebs and sports stars are using it. Is it a legitimate breakthrough or just the latest fad?
David Grisaffi just wrote a great (and very honest) column about this subject - vibration platform training - and you should definitely check it out.
He gives you his own insights based on 11 years of experience in the fitness trenches, as well as feedback from experts such as Dr. William Kraemer, Paul Chek and Ori Hofmekler.
By the way, according to a UK magazine article a couple weeks ago, Madonna has been using one of these electronic vibrating gizmos to get her already buffed 47-year old bod even more buffed.
I’m a little confused though… didn’t Madonna say that it was Ashtanga Yoga that gave her the buffed biceps and amazing abs? And wait a minute, before that wasn’t it pilates… and weight training, stairmaster, running, swimming, cycling, horseback riding… and super strict diet??? (Did I mention hours of dance rehearsals?)

PS.These things cost $10 grand!!!! Couldn’t you just take the shocks out of you car and get the same effect for free, LOL???

Nothing can take the place of dumb bells, and a good cardio workout. It is amazing what people will pay for a supposedly "quick fix", but no lasting results.
I have recently started blogging and at every opportunity I promote your book. It makes "sense", and it is free from a lot of technical jargon. I appreciate what you continue to do to educate us on clean proper eating and exercising. Your book is my fitness bible.

The power plate may not be all that it's hyped up to be, but it's a great way to massage your legs, shoulders and arms after a heavy workout and get you into a relaxed state before you head off home! But only if your gym has them available. You can buy a lot of massages for 10 grand!
